 Establishment :

NIC, Bongaigaon District Unit was established in the year 1994.As in case of most of the districts, initially it was tough to motivate the people, but within a short  time , it has brought a vast change in the attitude of the staff of the district administration. Now, the situation is such that the administration is getting almost all the database related works computerized. More and more people are getting trained in different fields of computers and the Deputy commissioner's office and NIC is getting connected with LAN so that the computerized activities in the various departments related to the District Commissioner's Office can be carried out from any place at a time. Interestingly, people are very much helpful and pioneer. So, there will not be any problem further to computerize all the deptt. of the district.

 CNAA

Community Need Assessment Approach, a project to keep records of FRU and PHC as per format provided by Addl Chief Medical Office, Bongaigaon. Data entry is done by deputed operators of the same deptt after trained them by NIC, Bongaigaon district Unit. Project is being implemented . After completion of monthly data entry text file is generated and which is being transmitted to Delhi. It is a menu base & window base software and run in Visual FoxPro. Software installation and maintenance is done by NIC, district unit.

2 Computerisation of District Court

Persons of the district court has been trained by NIC, Bongaigaon. Ecourt and Confonent project has been   started  at District Court.

3 Computerisation of  Teacher's Database

It is a  menu base software system developed in Fox plus under UnixWare environment and implemented to keep record of Schools( Primary, Middle, Secondary and Higher Secondary) and Teachers of the district. Operators are deputed from concern deptt. and they are trained by NIC, Bongaigaon district Unit. After completion of data entry data are transmitted to NIC, state unit. Report generation, modification, deletion record etc are also available with it.

Land Record Computerization, a  project initially developed in  Oracle under UnixWare platform  to keep records  of Jamabandi and Chitha of the District is being implemented. Now it has been imported to SQL Server using ASP as front end tool.

8 NREGA

National Rural Employee Guranttee Act is a webenable package developed in ASP as front end and MSSQL as back end. It is developed and designed by   Nation Informatics Centre, unit of Ministry of Rural Development. This project has been implemented in block level. NIC, Bongaigaon District Unit has installed and implemented the project in block level successfully.Manpower has been trained up and they are engaged in block.For more details about NREGA please go through this link http://nrega.nic.in

9 BRGF PlanPlus

PlanPlus is a software developed by NIC under guidance and direction from ministry of Panchayati Raj in order to demystify and strengthen the decentralized planning process. The software is a web-based software and captures the entire planning workflow starting from identification of needs, the plan approval process till the final approval by the District Planning Committee. The software is highly generic and can be extended to capture the plans prepared by line departments at the state and central level to generate the National Plan.Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj was the first scheme to adopt the Planning Commission guidelines in to -to and all BRGF states have been directed to prepare a district Plan document as against a BRGF Plan. Service :

After the installation of DVB and Lease Line  now NIC is giving total communication facilities to all the people of various govt. deptt. Mostly, all the officers of the district are effectively using the NICNET services. The district receives a large number of mails from the Secretariat and other departments. NICNET connectivity through Dial Up services has  been given to some of the important departments. NIC District unit also have Video Conference  minimizing communication gap between District, State and Centre.

Development:

As a part of its constant endeavor to bring about total computerization in the District's Activities, NIC Bongaigaon Unit has developed and implemented a number of useful  Software Packages and carried out computerization projects, some of which are highlighted below:

UNTIDE/MP-LAD/MLA-LAD  package which is already implemented (Fox plus, UnixWare). Its VB-SQL version is under developed.

20 Point Programme package for Deputy Commissioner which is implemented for monthly Data Entry, Report generation and Data Transmission (Fox plus, UnixWare)..

Monthly Data Entry and Report generation of Revenue collection of different deptt. of Deputy Commissioner which is already  implemented and it sort out their difficulties and complexities.

A software package on National Family Benefit Scheme is implemented which is helpfull mostly for immediate record checking and to generate report for immediate action (Foxplus, Unixware).

A webenable software package on National Old Age Pension Scheme is  being implemented (developed in ASP, MSACCESS ).

A WEB-SITE for the District has been developed which is a repository of Information on Bongaigaon District.

Computerized Telephone Number Enquery System(CTNES) of Bongaigaon district has been developed and implemented (VB Script and Ms-Access).

Some new projects: District Employee Salary Information Keeping System (Baton),Public Facilitation Service,  Municipality Tax collection, Computerisation of Letter Issue Receive Information System are developed and to be implemented very soon. 

Training:Most of  the departments of Bongaigaon District are  related to NIC. Particularly, they are very much using  NIC's email services. They are also trained particularly on MS-OFFICE and internet browsing. Internet is familiar to all of the employees of the District. They are very much dependent on NIC for any official documentation.  Though we have training calendar but employees are also given special training whenever needed. Most of the employees of Deputy Commissioner's Office are trained on MS-OFFICE, handling email,  internet browsing etc. Some of them are also trained on Fox plus, Access, VB, SQL etc. .Following are the departments undergone training  in  NIC, Bongaigaon District Unit-
