FLOOD REPORT - 2003


        DEPARTMENT WISE DETAILS OF DAMAGE DONE BY RECENT FLOOD (2003)

           Bongaigaon district, being its location at the foot hill of Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan a number of rivers and tributaries originated from glacier are passing through the district including the mighty Brahamaputra are River Aie, Kujia, Tunia, Champa.  Due to incessant rain fall these rivers spade up inundate vast area, cause erosion in the river in areas and also caused breached to embankment.

            During this years flood in north Salmara Sub-Division which is mostly flood prone area in the district an area of 35.68sq.km of 168nos. village covering 20,048nos. families with population 1,32,080nos. were affected. In Bijni Sub-Division an area of 0.46sq.km. in 9nos. villages with 9075nos. population were affected by flood. 

            As required by Govt. vide W.T. Msg. No. RGR 74/2003/700 Dt. 29/07/2003 a detailed position showing the damages caused in Bongaigaon District during current years flood, Department wise  is appended below.

1. Erosion on R/B of embankment at 3km of river Aie at Huramara. Estimate submitted vide No. BRR.6/2003/10   Dt.11/07/2003   for restoration at a cost of Rs.28.76lakh

 

2. erosion on L/B of embankment     of river Aie at Vill. Garaimari, Nachanguri  caused threat to NH31(C) & 132KV Tower line. Estimate submitted vide No. BRR.6/2003/21    Dt. 30/07/2003  for restoration at a cost of Rs.14.18lakh

 

3. Breach of embankment   of river Aie at Nasatra,Pakhakata to Paltanbazar –3km. Estimate submitted vide No. BRR.6/2003/15   Dt.24/07/2003   for restoration at a cost of Rs.71.90lakh

 

4. Bank erosion at Dangaigaon  continues and needs protection measures at a cost of Rs.30.00lakh
